We’re only half-way through New York Fashion Week Spring 2015, and it’s already apparent that last season’s braids, grown-up nail art, and fresh-faced makeup looks will be trending way into next year. So if you’re already doing these, give yourself a big gold beauty star—you’re ahead of the curve!

We Keep Seeing: Braids
Exhibit A)
suno-braid
How cool is the herringbone cage braid stylist Odile Gilbert created at Suno? She got the glossy look by applying Kerastase Form Fatale to the top half of the hair.

Exhibit B)
ostwald-helgason-braid
The taught, pigtail braids at Ostwald Helgason gave a nod to what lead stylist and Oribe educator Ramona Eschbach called the Girl Scout uniform feel of the collection.

Exhibit C)
peter-som-braid
Peter Som described his collection as “classic all-American style through the vibrant lens of pop art,” so Wella Professionals creative director Eugene Souleiman crafted a braid that juxtaposed “sophistication and masculinity.”

We Keep Seeing: Nail Art With Lines
Exhibit A)
tadashi-shoji-nails
Butter London’s Katie Jane Hughes used the mesh clothing in Tadashi Shoji’s collection as inspiration for her criss-crossed nail art. To get the lines symmetrical, make sure the starting points match up on the opposite sides of each nail, she says.

Exhibit B)
kate-spade-nails
Deborah Lippmann used black nail tape to make the precise lines on the models’ tips at Kate Spade. The key, she says, is to apply the tape when the nail is still a bit wet.

Exhibit C)

The graphic nails at Ann Yee looked super hard to pull off, until we found out they were nail wraps that the designer had custom made using inni.com.

We Keep Seeing: No-Makeup Makeup
Exhibit A)
prabal-gurung-fresh-face
Makeup genius Diane Kendal is known for creating lit-from-within skin, which is exactly what she did for the Prabal Gurung show by using MAC Pigment in Vanilla.

Exhibit B)

Skin was also in at Yigal Azrouel, where makeup artist Benjamin Puckey used NYX cosmetics on the models’ faces.

Exhibit C)

Pat McGrath kept the makeup natural and sheer to match the effortlessy chic vibe at Victoria Beckham.
