Over the weekend, I noticed such an intriguing photo hit my Instagram feed—check out the split-screen shot created by celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff.

“Reality check. Anyone can look young and line free with Photoshop or the right app #instablur,” she wrote.

By now, I think we all know what Photoshop is capable of when it comes to the perfect images shown in magazines, but it’s still fascinating to see how easily your average everyday selfie can be altered to erase facial imperfections. There are tons of apps out there that make it easy to zap a blemish, swipe away fine lines, or give yourself a virtual self tan. Which is all the more reason to love Pati Dubroff for keeping it real and not being shy about showing off her natural signs of aging, despite working in an industry that’s all about trying to appear flawless.

I’m curious: Have any of you used an app to minimize your flaws on Instagram? Which one, and how do you use it? Or do you only rely on the included filters to make you look as pretty as possible? Tell us your favorite look-pretty Instagram secrets!
