The countdown to the Fourth of July weekend is officially here and we can’t think of a better way to amp up your All-American style than with an awesome braid. Whether you’re looking forward to a summertime barbecue, pool party or a casual brunch this weekend, we’ve got you covered with a gorgeous braid idea to take you through any occasion. Check them out below.

If you’re kicking off summer Friday with rooftop cocktails:
Rooftop views are great but we’re not huge fans of the lack of air conditioning mixed in with summer humidity. Keep your neck cool and your hair off your back like Beth Behrs by simply creating a ponytail with a three-strand brand and pinning it up into an easy bun.

If your hair’s frizzing up during a backyard BBQ:
Take a look at Amber Heard’s epic braid and try tell us that a few flyaways weren’t the coolest thing ever. All you need to do is spray on a volumizing dry shampoo an haphazardly pin up two fishtail braids into an undo. The best part it that a bit of imperfection and summer frizz adds to its awesomeness.

If you’re lounging at a pool party:

This swirly French braid was touched by a unicorn (or most likely done with the help of Bumble and Bumble SprayChalk) and makes a high impact in a sea of red, white and blue bikinis. We recommend keeping your hair out of the water though to maintain the look.

If you’re on a date watching the fireworks:

Lindsay Ellingson’s half French braided pony is the perfect middle ground between sweet and sophisticated, whether it’s your first date or your 50th. Slick back your hair with a shine-inducing serum before creating your braid. Then wrap a section of hair around the elastic for a goof-proof way of making any pony look chic. Plus, the tousled tail adds to its appeal.

If you’re going to Sunday brunch with the girls:
Chrissy Teigen gives new life to a two day-old blowout with a cute Dutch braid over one ear and resuscitating her beachy waves with sea salt spray. It’s so easy to do even if you’re recovering from one too many hot dogs and beers last night—all you need are a couple of bobbies to secure the look.
