Pumpkin Face Masks: Game-Changing Pumpkin Skin Care For Clients
Written By:
Not only does pumpkin pack a delicious and nutritious punch in your favorite recipes, it’s also a beauty-boosting superstar. Once you find out more about pumpkin skin care products, they may become your next favorite treatment, whether you’re applying them for yourself or your Clients. Read on to learn why a pumpkin face mask or peel is exactly what your skin needs, as well as which Eminence Organic Skin Care pumpkin products complement your Clients’ skin care routines.
Benefits Of Pumpkin In Skin Care
Often evoking memories of a tasty coffee cake or pie, a luscious layer of a pumpkin face mask not only smells heavenly, it also leaves your skin baby soft and silky smooth. Benefits range from adding nutrition to the skin, to increasing moisture levels and brightening skin tone. Pumpkin pulp and pumpkin seed oil contain a wide array of beneficial nutrients including vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs).
We’ve identified before that AHAs are key to a glowing and radiant complexion, helping with exfoliation, moisture retention and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Adding to this glow-y goodness, pumpkin is also rich in antioxidants, and Vitamins A and C. As Eminence Organics Product Support Team Lead Alicia Hawthorne explains, “Vitamins A and C help to defend against oxidative damage. Vitamin C is especially fabulous for treating and reducing the look of dark spots.”
5 Benefits of Pumpkin Face Masks According To An Expert
As a licensed esthetician, Alicia offers expert insight on why pumpkin is such a sought-after ingredient and why estheticians might choose a pumpkin face mask in the treatment room. Alicia shares that this humble orange squash has five benefits:
- Infuses the skin with bioflavonoids
- Deeply hydrates and plumps the skin
- Stimulates collagen production
- Provides antioxidant benefits
- Delivers beta carotene, amino acids and fruit enzymes to the skin
The benefits of pumpkin leave you with the complexion of your dreams year round, but this fall-favorite ingredient is especially helpful as the seasons change. Using pumpkin skin care products allows estheticians to help alleviate skin care woes such as dehydration and redness caused by dryness.
Alicia sums this up perfectly, saying: “As the seasons change, our skin tends to suffer moisture loss and can use a boost in exfoliation. Whether it’s fine lines and wrinkles, post summer UV exposure, or the change in environment from central heating or air, the skin can usually use a little TLC, and pumpkin is here to help.”
With so many benefits, this multitasking ingredient is the perfect choice to incorporate into your Clients’ daily routines as well as into delicious facial protocols for the holidays, or any season.

A Holiday Professional Skin Care Treatment For Your Clients
Now that you’re familiar with some of the most effective and divine-smelling pumpkin products on offer, here is a simple protocol that incorporates these two fall-friendly treats:
1. Cleansing
Start off with the Mangosteen Daily Resurfacing Cleanser, a versatile product suitable for all skin types. This milky gel lightly lathers to slough off dead skin without manual exfoliation or over-stripping. The Lactic Acid Complex and mangosteen in this cleanser work together to restore a smooth, radiant complexion.
If a Client’s skin type is normal to dry skin, the Firm Skin Acai Cleanser is a great option. This cream cleanser blends hyaluronic acid and seabuckthorn oil to restore the appearance of elasticity to the skin and present a more youthful look.
2. Toning
For all skin types including dry and dehydrated, a spritz of the Stone Crop Hydrating Mist refreshes the skin. Once you cleanse the skin, apply one to two sprays onto the face and neck or apply with a cotton pad, avoiding the eye area.
For combination to normal skin types, the Mangosteen Revitalizing Mist is designed to balance the skin. It contains a refreshing combination of antioxidant-packed mangosteen, energizing ribose and pore-refining red clover.
3. Exfoliation
The Yam & Pumpkin Pro Enzyme Peel 20% is ideal for Clients looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as brighten their complexion by removing dead skin cells. Before performing this step on Clients, always perform a preliminary patch test before a general application is made. To do this, cleanse the skin behind the ear, apply your product of choice and leave undisturbed for one to three minutes. Neutralize with the Soothing Chamomile Tonique. If no reaction occurs, apply the product as directed. Contact with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration.
Other Exfoliation For all Skin Types Including Sensitive Skin
Two other wonderful exfoliating options (for any skin type) are the Arctic Berry Enzyme Exfoliant and the Arctic Berry Pro Advanced Peel Activator M20. The arctic berry enzyme found in both these products breaks down and removes dead skin to leave your skin feeling refreshed and new. A blend of four antioxidant-rich plants prevent the visible signs of aging, while essential vitamins, minerals and omega 3 fatty acids replenish the skin’s moisture and restore the appearance of elasticity.
The Arctic Berry Advanced Peel Activator deeply exfoliates skin, refining and evening the look of skin tone. It contains antioxidant benefits which help to reduce the appearance of inflammation and redness. Apply ½ tsp (3 ml) of the Arctic Berry Enzyme Exfoliant directly and evenly on the facial area using the fingertips. For neck and décolleté, add an additional ½ tsp (3 ml) and apply directly and evenly. Avoid the eye area and active acne lesions. Advise your Client that they might feel a tingly warm feeling during application.
Immediately after the application of the Enzyme Exfoliant, layer on the Pro Advanced Peel Activator starting with forehead, then cheeks, then jaw and finally upper lip and surrounding areas to treat the entire face. Rub in with gentle circular motions. Ensure you have applied enough of the Pro Advanced Peel Activator (approximately 1 full dropper) so that a slight foaming action occurs when the Enzyme Exfoliant and the Pro Advanced Peel Activator are mixed together. With a light motion, gently scrub the skin for 1-3 minutes. Using the same application technique, add another layer of the Pro Advanced Peel Activator and gently scrub the skin for 1 minute or less.
For sensitive skin, omit the second layer of the Pro Advanced Peel Activator. Neutralize with the Soothing Chamomile Tonique by spraying into the palms of hands and massaging the tonique into the skin until absorbed, or by saturating two cotton rounds and then apply by compressing lightly to the skin. Continue until tingling sensation has subsided. Rest the skin for 1 minute.
Exfoliation For Dry or Dehydrated Skin Types
Sometimes you may have Clients with dry or dehydrated skin. If their skin is non-sensitive, you can mix 1:1 parts of the Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant and Mangosteen Daily Resurfacing Cleanser with a few drops of water. Apply this to the face using gentle circular movements covering the face and neck, while avoiding the eye area. Then remove with a warm, wet towel. The lactic acid in the Mangosteen Cleanser and the Dermafoliant work together to restore a smooth, radiant complexion.
4. Extractions And/Or Eye Add-On Treatments
Extractions and any add-on eye treatments can be included into your treatment as needed, depending on the Client’s needs. For example, add-on eye treatments could include the Naseberry Eye Exfoliant. This product’s gentle fruit enzymes exfoliate the appearance of fine lines and crow’s feet for a smooth, youthful appearance.
5. Facial Masks
Use facial masks after extractions, in a facial massage, or apply them as a leave-on mask. Embrace the changing seasons with two masks inspired by fall ingredients. For all skin types, replenish the skin’s moisture and fight the visible signs of aging with Vitamin E, omega 9 nutrients and antioxidant-rich pumpkin in our Pumpkin Latte Hydration Masque. Another popular option is the Citrus & Kale Potent C+E Masque which combines citrus, leafy greens and avocado oil to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Some additional add-on neck, hand, foot and eye treatments can be performed after the mask step. For example:
Add-On Neck & Décolleté Treatment
Apply a layer of the Chocolate Truffle Body Wrap and cover with a warm compress. Rinse off to reveal soft, supple and youthful-looking skin.
Add-On Hand And Foot Treatment
Consider using the Chocolate Truffle Body Wrap on both hands and feet. After, apply the Stone Crop Body Lotion. Massage it in and leave on.
Add-On Eye Treatment
Use the Cucumber Eye Gel. Soothing cucumber and active herbal ingredients soothe and reduce the appearance of puffiness.
Add-On Lip Treatment
Use Step 2, the Lip Comfort Plumping Masque. Make sure to extend the application to the fine vertical lines around the mouth area as well as the marionette expression lines. This antioxidant, vitamin-rich and age-defying mask deeply hydrates and replenishes.
6. Massage
For all skin types, apply the Blueberry Soy Massage Soufflé, diluted with warm water if desired. Avoid massaging acneic areas. For extra hydration, add in a few drops of the Facial Recovery Oil.
7. Essence
Gently press a few drops of the Birch Water Purifying Essence into the skin until fully absorbed. This is a beautiful, lightweight essence that helps restore moisture levels.
8. Serum And Concentrate
Treat a Client’s skin with the Citrus & Kale Potent C+E Serum (for all skin types) to target the visible signs of aging. Follow with the Camellia Glow Solid Face Oil to deeply hydrate the skin and deliver a firm, plump and lifted appearance. This oil is suited for normal to dry skin types.
9. Moisturizing
For combination to normal skin types, finish the Holiday Skin Care Treatment with our Firm Skin Acai Moisturizer as a moisturizing step. The deeply hydrating botanical hyaluronic acid and acai berry juice in this antioxidant-rich moisturizer give your skin the plumping it needs to look younger and wrinkle-free. Another great option for all skin types is the Arctic Berry Peptide Radiance Cream.
10. Finishing Eye Care
Apply a thin layer of the Neroli Age Corrective Eye Serum to the eye area with light blending movements until absorbed. Leave on.
11. Sun Defense
For all skin types, you can apply an SPF sunscreen to finish and protect your Client’s skin. Please inform your Clients that after application of a peel treatment, skin will be more sensitive to the sun. Communicate that application of an SPF product is mandatory after treatment to help the skin heal. Advise your Client to use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure after each treatment and for a week afterwards.
12. The Final Lip Care/Add-On Lip Treatment
Use our Citrus Lip Balm or the Rosehip & Lemongrass Lip Balm SPF 15 to protect and finish your Client’s lips. The Citrus Lip Balm is a petroleum-free citrus treat for the lips with shea butter and sunflower seed oil, and the Rosehip & Lemongrass Lip Balm moisturizes and protects dry lips with an SPF factor of 15.
