It seems like every few months there’s a new celebrity trick for looking your most photogenic self on social media. It all started with the OG selfie pose the Duck Face—which you probably used ages ago when digital cameras were a still thing. (And the best feature on your phone was its awesome flip capabilities.) The term didn’t really catch fire until selfie queen Kim Kardashian West truly popularized the pose. We know you know it.

The obsession moved on through a range of other expressions. In 2013, the Sparrow Face—where you slightly part your lips and open your eyes really big as if you were a baby bird—emerged. And then most recently, there was the Fish Gape. It’s similar to the Sparrow Face on the wide-open-eye front but a little toothier where the mouth is concerned. The idea is that it elongates your face and makes your all-around look slightly more alluring.

Well, within the past few weeks, we’ve seen a new trend emerge, and we’re happy to report that (1) it does not have a weird animal name. (Seriously, though, what’s with all the fish and bird terminology?) And (2) it’s a look you won’t be embarrassed to practice in the mirror, let alone post on Instagram where all your friends and coworkers follow you. We’re calling it the Hair Twirl. The concept is simple: Now that Instagram has video (and its new app Boomerang), you can show off your hair and makeup with a shot that’s equal parts sass and sweet. It’s particularly useful for a new haircut or color unveil. Observe!

Being the beauty pioneer that she is, Kylie Jenner was among the first to jump on the Hair Twirl wagon. There’s no arguing this video of her latest blunt-cut bob is worthy of a shampoo commercial.

Then The Hills alum Audrina Patridge debuted her incredible shaggy lob and highlights using the same pose of choice. Talk about some serious hair goals:

And yesterday, Jennifer Lawrence took her new bleach-blond bob out for its first official walk in the spotlight. You’ll notice her casual hair twirl gives you the perfect look at just how great those layers are:

What are you waiting for? Go forth and selfie! We promise, this trick is much more fun than others you’ve tried.
