Kylie Jenner just debuted her latest hair color of choice on Instagram: a cool, teal blue. At first glance, the latest swap may seem like nothing out of the ordinary due to Jenner’s penchant for switching out her raven-black hair color for something more eccentric, courtesy of a well-placed wig. However, this time it turns out that there’s more to the pastel-hued hair piece than just meets the eye.

Her new hair color wasn’t just done on a whim, it was a decision based off the opinions from her loyal fans. While preparing for her next appearance at the Sugar Factory in New York City, Jenner couldn’t decide which hair color to wear. Previously, she had worn a minty, light green wig to the Sugar Factory, but this time the reality star chose to leave her next shade up to fans by asking her 14.6 million Twitter followers for their opinion.

Guys teal or mint for my next sugar factory event? I can’t decide

Naturally, the response was overwhelming, forcing the Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s star to create an online poll to finalize a fan favorite:

Ok doing a poll!!

But then, straight out of left field, Kylie teased her followers by hinting that her next hair shade might possibly be inspired by what we can assume to be none other than Beyonce (I mean, what else could the crown and bee emoji stand for?):

Think I’m gonna do something new! inspired

Finally, after a lengthy and suspenseful wait, she revealed on Instagram what we’re thinking is her final decision for the upcoming event: an icy teal.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen crowdsourcing successfully navigate it’s way through the beauty industry. Brands have used this technique to create the beauty products of your dreams, and it’s actually working. By asking fans for their opinion on products and in this case, celebrity hair colors, it gives them a say, which is a huge draw for consumers. Maybe Kylie will use this method in choosing her next lip kit color? We can only hope!
