The world is going to look like one giant baby shower in 2016, according to Pantone. The company has picked its colors (yes, plural) for the year, and they’re a soft blue called Serenity and a pale pink called Rose Quartz.

It’s a switch for the company to pick a duo of shades, and the folks there did it in part as a reference the gender blur going on in the world, but also to create a yin and yang of sorts. They chose them together because when paired, according to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Institute, they “demonstrate a inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and a cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”

In other words, wearing these two shades will help you find your perfect harmony in life so you can become the zenned-out middle-of-the-road goddess, god, or genderless diety of your dreams. That’s how we’re interpreting it, anyway. And we’re into the idea of soft colors—it’s a refreshing change from how bold everything has gotten in the makeup world. Not that we don’t still love a strong color, but when a trend takes over the way bright lipstick and eyeliner have over the last few years, going the opposite direction can feel like a little act of rebellion. To that end, here are six beauty products that will will get you on this gender-blending, warm/cool trend in the coming 12 months. Notice that the blues aren’t in the pastel family—so aim for a cooler blue with a little more gravity to it.
