Miley Cyrus’ makeunder lasted two seconds—she’s now back on the crazy-hair train. And, yes, the fact that the singer-actress wore double buns to the premiere of A Very Murray Christmas may call Princess Leia to mind (timely, with the new Star Wars movie hitting theaters soon), but if you’ve been paying attention to the runway hair trends that have came out of all the Fashion Weeks in the past few years, she also married two big trends the stylish set have been circling around for a while: side knots and braided buns.

We saw flower-esque hair accessories at the Marchesa spring-summer 2016 show that echoed the idea of side buns with an edgy twist:

But you might remember a similar low bun look at Marc Jacobs spring 2012:

Which was echoed at Miu Miu fall 2013:

Combining all these ideas into one Star Wars-esque hairstyle may have just made Cyrus the most fashionable person alive right now—in the most unexpected way. It’s a hairstyle that you might pass by quickly, but it’s actually making quite a large statement about pop culture (hi, Leia!) and fashion and the melding of the two. And the fact that she chose to create hers with many thin braids as opposed to one thick plait on each side gives her a unique edge that makes it all her own.

Bet you didn’t see that coming.
