Haircut inspiration alert! At the LACMA Art and Film Gala over the weekend, Evan Rachel Wood showed off the coolest short crop by L’Oreal celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak.

I love this length, how it hits just beneath the ears and bends at the ends. And I love how there’s one front section that’s a little longer, to frame her face perfectly, along with the deep side part. In fact, I love everything about this haircut so much that I had to contact Roszak to get her tips on how you all can copy the look (since clearly I’m never going to get the nerve to chop off my long hair). Here’s what she had to say.

“Evan Rachel Wood’s haircut is my version of an undercut—both feminine and modern,” Roszak says. “The length in the front is no longer then her chin, graduating to shorter in the back and choppy all around. The nape of the neck is cut really short and clean, giving the cut a bit of a surprise element.”

For the LACMA Gala, she used L’Oreal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It High Lift Creation Spray on damp hair and blew it out smooth and straight with a round brush. The idea is to build a bit of texture with the product, while blowing the hair straight,” she explains. Then she lightly touched up the ends around the face with a flatiron to ensure they were straight. To slightly rough up the style, she rubbed a dab of L’Oreal Paris Advanced Hairstyle TXT It Hyper-Fix Putty in the palms of her hands, then “shook it into the hair for a slightly lived-in texture and pieced-out ends.” Last came L’Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Strong Hold, to keep the look in place.
