Skincare routine for combination skin
Skincare routine for combination skin
Every day, we walk around with skin that’s full of all kinds of bacteria, dirt, and makeup. It’s no wonder that there are so many skincare steps involved in keeping your face clean, but there is one thing you can do that will make it easier for you to keep your skin healthy: dry brushing. Dry brushing is a great way to remove dead skin cells from the surface of your face to reveal clearer, brighter skin below. It also helps improve circulation by increasing blood flow around the area being brushed and flushing out toxins from deeper layers within our bodies (which means better health).
Clean your face.
-
Use a gentle cleanser.
-
You can use your hands or a washcloth, but avoid scrubbing your face! Do not massage or rub the cleanser into your skin.
-
Warm water or cool water rinse is all you need to cleanse your face, so don’t worry if you feel like it’s taking forever to cleanse properly; just make sure to get those dirties out before moving onto step two (which will be discussed next).
Use a toner.
A toner is a liquid that’s used after cleansing your face. It helps to balance out the oily and dry parts of your skin, and it can be used on any part of your body.
-
What is a toner? Tones are liquefied extracts from plants or minerals that have been extracted by steeping them in water for several hours. They’re typically used to cleanse the pores of dead cells, but they also have some anti-aging properties–so even if you don’t have acne problems (which most people do not), this step will help keep your complexion looking fresh over time!
-
How should I use my toner? You’ll want to apply this stuff evenly all over your face–but make sure not to get any into your eyes! And don’t leave it on too long; just let it work its magic while rinsing off with warm water (or cold). Try using something like Philosophy’s Miracle Worker Toner ($18) if yours doesn’t seem strong enough yet; this one smells really good too!
Dry brush (skip if you’re in a rush).
Dry brushing is a great way to help improve circulation, reduce cellulite and feel more relaxed. Dry brushing is also an effective treatment for skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
To dry brush, you’ll need:
-
A soft bristle brush (you can find these in any pharmacy) or your hands with natural bristles on them (like this one).
-
A towel or mat to rest the brush on when not in use.
Apply a moisturizer, then a gentle exfoliant.
-
Apply a moisturizer, then a gentle exfoliant.
-
A gentle exfoliant can help remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. It’s not recommended to use an abrasive scrub on your face every day because it can cause micro-tears in the capillaries of your skin (a type of blood vessel). If you’re using an exfoliator every other day or more than once per week, try using one that’s less abrasive than others–for example: SkinCeuticals AHA/BHA Daily Microfoliant ($44) is ideal for sensitive skin types because it contains AHAs to help slough off dead cells without irritating them; COSRX AHA BHA Clarifying Toner ($21) contains salicylic acid for crystal clear skin; Paula’s Choice Resist Body Double Cleanse Foaming Cleanser ($28) clears away dirt and oil while nourishing dry spots with glycerin; Apple Cider Vinegar Facial Spray (freezing water ice cubes works too)
Apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15.
The first step in your skincare routine is to apply sunscreen. If you have combination skin, this can be a little tricky because some products may cause more trouble than others. Luckily, there are plenty of options available at drugstores and online (we recommend L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Line). You should aim for an SPF of at least 15–the higher the better! This will help protect your skin from damaging UV rays while also nourishing it with antioxidants and other nutrients that keep pores clear.
It’s important not to put too much on top of makeup as this can lead to clogged pores later on down the road when you’ve applied enough serum/moisturizer on top of all those layers already present throughout day-to-day life activities such as sleeping or working out regularly etcetera…
You can have great skin when you follow these steps!
-
Keep your skin clean.
-
Use a toner to remove any excess dirt, oil or makeup from your face.
-
Dry brush before you go to bed every night (if you don’t want to use a brush, just use your hands). This will help remove dead skin cells that clog up pores and cause acne. It also helps reduce redness in sensitive areas like the cheeks and nose area!
-
Apply moisturizer after cleansing twice daily (morning and evening) with an emollient-based product formulated for combination skin types like me!
If you follow these simple steps, you’ll have great skin! But if you need help with anything, don’t hesitate to reach out. I am always happy to lend a hand or answer any questions. Thanks for reading!
