How To Repair A Client’s Dry Skin

It’s common for a Client’s skin to exhibit a combination of skin issues. You might spy texture change, redness, a loss of elasticity or dry, flaky skin. If you’re wondering how to repair and protect skin that looks tender and dry, we have a Repair & Protect Facial treatment plan  to help replenish your Client’s skin barrier.

A Repair & Protect Facial Treatment For Dry Skin: Step-By-Step

Step 1: Cleanse

Start by cleansing your Client’s skin to remove any impurities, dirt or makeup build-up. The Coconut Milk Cleanser is formulated for dry skin and contains coconut milk, calendula oil, virgin coconut oil and a BioComplex. These natural ingredients protect and nourish the appearance of the skin, while the BioComplex minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Another option suited to all skin types is the gentle Stone Crop Gel Wash. With chamomile, stone crop and shea butter, this cleanser provides hydration and minimizes the appearance of blemishes.

Step 2: Toning

Our Stone Crop Hydrating Mist is formulated for the appearance of uneven skin textures. It contains stone crop juice, lavender and jasmine to increase the skin’s hydration level. Hydration is key to improve skin texture and to leave the skin looking glowing and moisturized.

Step 3: Exfoliation & Extractions

If your Client has sunburnt skin, skip the exfoliating and extracting step. Otherwise, perform extractions as needed. For exfoliation, apply the Rosehip & Maize Exfoliating Masque mixed 1:1 ratio with water. Leave the mask on for five to seven minutes before removing with a warm, wet towel. Rosehip hydrates and improves the appearance of skin, while maize flour and salicylic acid gently exfoliate away a build-up of dead skin cells. During this step you can offer an add-on exfoliating lip treatment using the Citrus Enzyme Lip Exfoliator. Apply a thin layer of exfoliant to the lip and leave on for five minutes. Remove with a damp sponge, then blot with tissue or clean towel.

If your Client’s skin suffers from the appearance of environmental stress, the Rosehip & Lemongrass Soothing Hydrator for Face & Body is recommended for relieving dry skin. No massage is necessary. It contains rosehip and aloe to moisturize and revitalize the look of the skin. This hydrator contains a Natural Repair Complex derived from rosehip and rosemary to defend the skin from the drying effects of environmental stress.

Step 4: Masking

Apply masks after extractions using a facial massage or simply as a leave-on mask. For those with oily skin, apply the hydrating Stone Crop Masque to minimize oiliness and improve uneven skin tone. Honey, lemon and stone crop provide moisturizing effects to smooth the appearance of the skin. Emulsify a small amount of the mask in your hand with a few drops of water and apply the facial mask over the entire face as well as the neck and décolleté areas if desired. Allow it to dry for five to ten minutes before removing with a lukewarm cloth and rinse off to ensure the skin is clean.

For dry or normal skin, apply the Yellow Sweet Clover Anti-Redness Masque following the same steps as the mask above. With jojoba oil and sweet clover, this is a gentle product made with Biodynamic® ingredients from Demeter International Certified Biodynamic® farms.

Now is a good opportunity for you to offer your Client an add-on neck, décolleté and hand and foot treatment. Apply the moisturizing Rosehip & Lemongrass Soothing Hydrator or Apricot Body Oil. Massage in and leave on.

If your Client is worried about puffy eyes, you can provide an add-on eye treatment using the Cucumber Eye Gel. Cucumber, shea butter and bearberry work together to rejuvenate the skin’s appearance and minimize the look of puffiness around this delicate area.

Step 6: Massage

It’s time to make your Client feel relaxed and calm with a facial massage. Mix the Rosehip & Lemongrass Repair Balm with a few drops of either the Facial Recovery Oil or Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil. Emulsify, apply and massage this in for five to seven minutes. Gently remove the product excess with a warm wet towel.

Do not massage sunburnt skin, but apply the Rosehip & Lemongrass Repair Balm lightly and finish with a misting of the Stone Crop Hydrating Mist.

If the undereye area has very dark circles, you can provide an add-on eye treatment using the Wild Plum Eye Cream to brighten the area.

Step 7: Serum

No matter the skin type of your Client, combine the Calm Skin Arnica Booster-Serum and the Stone Crop Serum and apply a layer to the skin and leave it on.

Step 8: Moisturizing

An important step of repairing your Client’s skin is moisturizing. For dry skin types, use the ultra-rich Rosehip & Lemongrass Repair Balm. This product is frequently suggested here as it improves skin tone, texture and the appearance of dry skin. For oily skin types, apply the Rosehip & Lemongrass Soothing Hydrator for Face & Body. Normal skin types can use either product. If skin is extremely sensitive, add a few drops of the Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil and gently apply.

Step 9: Eye Care

Apply a thin layer of the Marine Flower Peptide Eye Cream or the Bearberry Eye Repair Cream to the eye area. Use light blending motions until the product is absorbed and leave it on.

Step 10: Sun Defense

For protection against sun damage, apply an SPF moisturizer and leave on. For combination and normal skin, one option is the Red Currant Protective Moisturizer SPF 40. It contains zinc oxide, a natural mineral that provides a physical barrier, helping to protect the skin from sun damage. Also formulated with Youth Shield Antioxidant Complex (Red Currant, Elderflower, Magnolia Bark), this sunscreen minimizes the appearance of the signs of aging.

For normal, hyperpigmented skin, apply the Bright Skin Moisturizer SPF 40 which targets the appearance of dark spots and offers sun protection. For all skin types, you can use the Tropical Vanilla Day Cream SPF 40. With a relaxing, tropical vanilla scent, this sunscreen contains shea butter and aloe to hydrate the skin while simultaneously providing sun protection. Lastly, for all skin types, apply the Sun Defense Minerals SPF 30 for an additional sun care step.

Step 11: Lip Care/Add-On Lip Treatment

Finish this treatment by protecting your Client’s lips with the Citrus Lip Balm or the Rosehip & Lemongrass Lip Balm SPF 15. To add color, consider mixing a bit of the powder makeup into the balm, for example, the No.4 or No.5 Sun Defense Minerals.
